Train derailment, Western Australia

Last updated: 20 May 2024

There is nothing more important than the safety and wellbeing of employees and communities near our operations. We take rail incidents and our response to them very seriously.

The investigation into the cause of the collision continues, and we will implement any recommendations to improve our rail systems.

In the reviews conducted since the incident, we are confident that our signalling system, AutoHaul, and operating procedures are safe for our railway's operation.

We have reopened our dual train line 80kms from Karratha following a rail incident on Monday, with the first train traveling on one of the repaired lines on Friday and the second line reopening on Saturday.

Safety is our top priority while the clean-up work at the site will continue at a safe distance from the track.
